The following policies are administered by the appropriate office at UGA, and are provided as references for those looking to participate in the investigative process.

Equal Opportunity Office (EOO)

Non-Discrimination Anti-Harassment Policy
+

The University prohibits harassment of or discrimination against any person because of age, color, disability, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, sex, or veteran status (“protected status”) by any member of the University Community on campus, in connection with a University program or activity, or in a manner that creates a hostile environment for any member of the University Community. Incidents of harassment and discrimination will be met with appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal or expulsion from the University.

Sexual Misconduct Policy
+

This policy prohibits Sexual Misconduct, which includes, but is not limited to, such unwanted behavior as dating violence, domestic violence, nonconsensual sexual contact, nonconsensual sexual penetration, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment and stalking.

UGA Assistance Animal Policy
+

The University of Georgia (“UGA”) is committed to maintaining a fair and respectful environment for living, work, and study for all, including individuals with disabilities. To that end and in compliance with federal and state laws, this policy (“Policy”) provides general guidelines and permitted uses of animals assisting individuals with disabilities while on UGA property.

Limited English Proficiency Plan
+

LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY PLAN

In accordance with federal law, recipients of federal financial assistance, including the University of Georgia (“UGA”), are required to comply with the applicable provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as well as its implementing regulations and Executive Order 13166. Title VI prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in any programs or activities receiving federal financial assistance.

UGA takes reasonable steps to ensure limited English proficiency (“LEP”) populations have meaningful access to its programs and activities. The U.S. Department of Justice defines LEP individuals as: “Persons who do not speak English as their primary language and who have a limited ability to read, speak, write, or understand English.” Whether particular barriers need to be removed for an LEP individual is determined on a case-by-case basis. Should the need arise and upon request by an LEP individual, UGA may provide LEP individuals with assistance through various services, so long as the assistance does not unreasonably interfere with academic standards or create an undue burden on the University’s available resources and costs.

UGA’s LEP plan is prepared in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and its implementing regulations. If you have any questions, please contact the Equal Opportunity Office.

Translate

UGA welcomes students, faculty, staff, parents, families, and others from around the world. While our original website content is developed in English, we realize that not all of our viewers are proficient in reading English. To help all who are looking for information on our processes or services, we ask that you utilize one of these translation services – Google Translate and Bing Translate. Simply select your language of preference, enter the UGA URL (e.g., eoo.uga.edu), and click “translate.”

We understand that not all words and concepts translate well into other languages. However, we believe these tools could be useful. Please e-mail the office staff at [email protected], if you require any further assistance.

Automatic Website Translation

To make the website more accessible to speakers of non-English languages, UGA Extension uses an automated translation service to translate the site in a cost effective and practical manner.

Users can access the translation service via the dropdown in the top right corner of UGA Extension web pages. The service is available in web browsers including Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Please note that the service is not available in Edge or Internet Explorer.
